During this Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, the battle with cancer does not stop, and for our sick children and their families there is no break.
The rigid mobility restrictions in addition to the parents’ uncertain employment situation has forced them to face additional challenges which has created financial distress.
How can you help our children and families survive this crises?
1. Help a Sick Child Get to the Hospital for Treatments
All pediatric children are in home or hospital isolation, This need was raised by many of our low-income families, and especially by those who live in Israel’s periphery, located far from the hospitals. They cannot get to the hospital by public transportation as use to, and are now realizing the extremely high cost of using taxi’s private transportation to avoid any exposure of the sick children to infections.
Transportation for 1 child for 1 month $400 We are looking to help 125 families. Funds needed $50,000
2. Help a Family – Financial Aid For Passover Meals, Basic Needs and Child’s Medication
In many of the sick children’ families there is already only one parent left to provide for the family, due to the need to care for the sick child in treatments. Now many workplaces have shutdown and families are left with no income. We have received close to 200 applications for emergency financial aid, from families that have lost their jobs asking help to provide for food, basic needs and medication for their child. Let’s give them hope and help with Pesach (Passover) holiday meals.
Financial help for 1 family $500 for 200 families emergency assistance for food. Funds needed $100,000
3. Help the sick children of the Kindergarten of Dreams Continue Learning Remotely
Our children are all in home isolation, we closed all activities at the Kindergarten of Dream, our sterile preschool for cancer stricken children whose immune systems are highly vulnerable. We are now conducting our programs virtually, online sessions with the children, they have story time in the morning and afternoon. The staff team are holding individual house calls and visit each child in their home or hospital. Work sheets are sent, online activities and learning sessions with the sick children while they are in home quarantine.
The immediate need is to purchase digital equipment – 50 designated tablets and laptops for children isolated at home or hospital, to enable them to participate in the online programs.
1 tablet $250 per child for 50 children. Funds needed $12,500
